Salone d’Onore of the Triennale di Milano in viale Alemagna 6
6th-7th July 2023

On 6th and 7th July, the City'Scape Symposium: City Climate Tourism Energy Brand Landscape - The landscape project as a strategy: Landscape quality in climate change for urban and social resilience will take place at the Palazzo della Triennale in Milan

It is an educational event dedicated to the field of Landscape Architecture.

Organized by Paysage - Promotion and Development for Landscape Architecture and the National Council of Architects, Planners, Landscape Architects, and Conservators, in collaboration with the OAPPC of Milan, the Symposium will feature a lineup of over 40 speakers from the United States, France, Germany, Israel, and Italy, who are currently active in contemporary Landscape Architecture and will present their latest projects.

At the heart of the event is climate change, the great challenge of our time. It is a global-scale phenomenon that has repercussions on the landscape, urban space, and all aspects of daily life.

The context requires appropriate actions to adapt densely urbanized and impermeable areas to new environmental conditions and mitigate the effects of global warming and increasingly frequent extreme weather events, reducing their risks.

In this perspective, it is necessary to rethink the complex relationships that structure urban landscapes in order to make them tools for conveying urban and territorial planning that is increasingly attentive to environmental values and the protection of biodiversity, following a systemic approach. The protection and design of the urban landscape, integrating resilience and climate adaptation strategies, become essential means of understanding the current relationship between human, natural, and semi-natural elements.

We return to considering the landscape as a whole, with actions of protection, maintenance, and enhancement, through an attitude of listening and care that allows for the restoration of balance between the natural element and the built world, in order to achieve environmental, economic, and social benefits. "Landscape and design are closely related and interacting entities that have always naturally constituted a tight link between tradition and innovation, as is indeed in the spirit of the European Convention."*
